Kogi @ 30: PDP calls for Prayers To End Reign of Debtors in Kogi .
With joy and jubilation, the news of the christening of a new born amalgamated state from then Benue and Kwara states, KOGI was heartily received on the 27th day of August 1991 under the then military junta led by General Ibrahim Badamosi Babandiga. The self-styled military president whose dream of transiting to a civilian president was truncated by ‘Human Rights Groups and the Nigerian masses’ movements.
No one ever imagined that the state will today be flung into the hands of a debtor who was crowned governor 24 glorious years after. To borrow the word of the great SAN Wole Olainipekun, also an APC Counsel then, unfortunately, none of the sooth Sayers of our time, saw today from six (6) years back, that Kogi will indeed be debt ridden, moribund, unsafe, unpaid and held down by tar tar tar under APC led Yahaya Adoza Bello’s Kogi state mala-administrating Government.
The worrisome aspect is the planned and now being orchestrated agenda to sell off properties of the state in far and near, which will ultimately sink the hope of restarting the state when Youth-Yahaya Bello and his APC eventually gets unbundled. We however, strongly advice intending buyers or buyers to withdraw from such unprofitable venture for we shall recover all properties of the state that may be sold, without winking, from whoever the buyer(s) is or are.
Going further, in a statement by the PDP in Kogi State, signed by its Director of Media and Communications, Comrade Dayo Onibiyo, the party stated that from the first military Administrator of the state, Brigadier General Danladi Mohammed Zakari rtd., H.E Late Abubakar Audu, Colonel Paul Omeruo rtd., Colonel Bzigu Afakirya rtd., Augustine Aniebo, to H.E Idris Ibrahim and the one after him, the state has never amassed this level of homongous hydra-headed unproductive debts, coupled with the failure to take advantage of the bail out from the FG as applied and approved for the PDP led Government of then, which General Buhari refused to release the money to, until Bello assumed office.
While all effort are being made to constitutionally end this reign and install a PDP led Government, we can’t but passionately enjoin all workers in the state, who now don’t even know what they presently earn as salaries, and when they will earn the next undefined percentage salaries if they get paid, and to the hard working business men and women whose businesses are now either moribund or in comatose to the entire general members of the public in Kogi state to fervently engage the prayer gear for God to uproot the oppressors of men. While we appeal also to all people from the state and those living to take advange of the ongoing voters registration to get registered or revalidate their torn voters card/defaced in readiness to pull Bello and his men out of Lugard House.
The PDP however, encouraged all indigenes and residents of the state to remain calm, appreciative of God Almighty for keeping us alive and to be rest reassured that, a state owing N7 billion debt in 2014 while PDP held sway, and now owing over N70b under APC Government in less than 7 years, will soon have a reason to smile after the exit of these army of debtors.
