Kogi, other 36 states benefit from Rotary International N20M worth FPE – Grace Ben Kato

Following the mandate giving by the Federal Ministry of Health in Nigeria through collaborative efforts with Rotary International to support reduction of maternity and perinatal morbidity and mortality in the country, ten facilities in each of the 36 states, including the Federal Capital has received Rotary International Family Planning equipment, (FPE).
This was made known by Kogi State Rotary International Maternity and Child Health Project coordinator, Grace Ben Kato during the presentation of Family Planning Equipment and commodities to ten selected facilities in the state, recently at the State Ministry of Health in Lokoja.
In her opening remark, Grace Ben Kato stressed that for the effective campaign of their project, sixty journalists from the print, radio, television, and social media were trained and instructed on effective reporting of Maternity and Child health issues, especially family planning from all over the country.
She further disclosed that in support of the Family Health Department of FMOH, the Rotary action Group for reproductive, maternal, and child health (RMCH) under the National Family Planning Campaign Project in collaboration with SOGON is embarking on training of doctors and nurses on Obstetric Quality assurance (QQA).
Grace added that family planning for selected doctors and nurses across secondary and tertiary facilities in the state would be trained likewise.
In her word, grace stressed that “Rotary Reproduction Maternity and Child health (RMCH) will continue to work assiduously to substantially reduce maternity and perinatal mortality and morbidity in our country.
She continued by adding that “let me say very clearly that theses equipment and contraceptives being donated today are not to be sold. They are given she added, free of charge to beneficiaries in need of them and are to be kept safe always in the family planning unit. She concluded.
In her response, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Offor DianaRose who represented the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Haruna Saka thanked Rotary international for the humanitarian services they have rendering especially in the state.
She further assured the representatives of Rotary International that the Family Unit under the Ministry will make proper use of the equipment and commodities while stressing that beneficiaries selected would get the donations.
She further pleaded to Rotary International not to give up on their humanitarian services across all sectors, adding that the world and the citizens of Kogi state will forever be grateful for all that they do to humanity.
The selected facilities as gathered by the Graphic reporter are; Cottage Hospital Budon, Lokoja, C.H Emeweopada, Dekina, G.H Ifeolukotun, Yagba East, PHC Adogo, Ajaokuta, ECWA Hospital, Mopamuro, G.H Ayetoro, Ijumu, C.H.C Iyara, Ijumu, PHC Oroke 11, Mopamuro, G.H Okenwgwn, Okene and Cottage Hospital Agbaja, Lokoja.
