Niger NULGE issues 14 days ultimatum to government

The Nigerian Union of Local Government NULGE, Niger state chapter, has issued a fourteen day ultimatum to the state government to meet its demands or face industrial action.
The ultimatum, which was contained in a letter issued by the union and signed by the State Secretary, Kolo Maigana and addressed to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, said the local government workers will embark on industrial action if six of their demands tabled before the government were not met.
The union were asking the state government to implement the consequential adjustment for grade level 07, the implementation of all outstanding promotions and also the domestic servant allowance for grade level 15 and above.
According to the letter “failure to address these issues on expiration of the given ultimatum, the union will have no option, but to take necessary action”.
Others are implementation of annual increment for 11 years, stop the percentage payment to staff of local governments and the payment of October 2020 salary.
The letter, which was made available to journalists, was copied to the speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Head of Service, Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission and other sister unions.
Efforts to speak with the commissioner for local government proved abortive as both text and calls were not returned.
