RATTAWU eulogies Bello over payment of NBC fees, new transmitter for Radio kogi

Kogi state chapter of Radio Television Theatre and Art Workers’ Union, (RATTAWU) has commended the state governor , Alhaji Yahaya Bello for creating enabling environment for state Radio station to thrive.

The state chairman of RATTAWU, Comrade Haruna Isah disclosed this while on a courtesy visit to the General Manager of kogi state Broadcasting cooperation, the management of Radio kogi, Mr Ojo Oyila at his office in Lokoja.

Comrade Isah appreciated the efforts of the state governor in attempt to arrest the challenge bedevilling the state broadcasting station, particularly the purchase of new transmitter for Radio kogi and settlement of National Broadcasting commission’s
service fees recently .

While Comrade Isah condemned the action of National Broadcasting Commission, NBC for shutting down the station and others for non payment of service fees, he stated that the commission should note that the media is an oxygen of democracy.

” The action of the NBC is uncalled for, considering the security challenges and the forthcoming general election in the country. NBC should understand that the media is an oxygen of democracy”, he said.

However, Comrade Isah thanked the general manager of Radio kogi for his efforts in ensuring that the station bounce back to function shortly, stressing that the union will stand by him in this direction.

RATTAWU state chairman added further that the new leadership is ready to assist in any forms to ensure his efforts yield a desired result and the situation become normal in the Radio station.

In his remarks, the general manager thanked the new executive members, soliciting their cooperation for smooth operation of the state Radio station.

Mr Oyila who assured that the station will commence operation shortly thanked governor Yahaya Bello for standing by the state Radio at this period.
