Flood; Wife of Kogi West APC Candidate donates food items, cash to victims in Lokoja, Kotonkarfe LGAs.
The Wife of the APC senatorial Candidate for Kogi West , Mrs Stella Sunday Karim has donated edible items worth millions of naira and cash to the flood victims in Lokoja and Kogi Kotonkarfe Local Government Areas of the state.
The wife of the APC Senatorial hopeful made the donation to the victims on Tuesday at the IDP camps in Lokoja and Kotonkarfe Local Government Councils.
Mrs Karimi who was touched by the appalling state of the victims who are anxious to return to their homes, said, the items are her modest contribution to assist them in their moment of needs and anguish.
She said her coming to see them is a passion seeing people being sacked by flood , living inside the flood, saying the visit is for her to see what can be done to put smiles on their faces.
She assured them not to lose hope , that people are identified with them and have known their plights.
According to her, as hurtful as their lives have been, they should keep hope alive as they would not be abandoned.
She lamented at the devastation of the flood which has become a yearly affairs, assured that the directives of Mr. President to the Think tank to Marshall workable actions that would permanently solve the problems.
She called on other well meaning NIgerians to come to the aid of the victims to identify and put smiles on their faces.
She added that nothing is too much or too small as they are not asking for too much, what they need is to enable them to pick up the ashes of their lives.
At the Adankolo Housing Estate in Lokoja, Secretary of the Community Management Committee, Comrade Habibat Umar Ibrahim, commended the donor for coming to their aid at the time that even the government and individuals could not consider their estate for their largesse.
She lamented at the Hoodlums who sneaked into their houses and burgled their houses, asked security agencies to provide security at the estate.
She called on government, corporate organisations and philanthropists to consider the Estate while given out parliative to affected Communities in the state.
However, the Etsu Adankolo , HRH Sunday Agbayi applauded the donor for the gifts, stressing that the donation is a demonstration of motherly love for her children.
The traditional ruler while commending Gov. Yahaya Bello for providing succour to the victims appealed for relocation of Households on the flood prone areas across the Local Governments high ground to permanently resolved the recurring flooding that has destroyed properties and lost of lives.
The Chairman, Lokoja Local Government Council, Hon. Mohammed Dansabe Mohammed AKA GYB Na’ Allah thanked Mrs Stella Karimi for the items which , he said will go along way in cushioning the devastating effect of the flood on the people.
He assured her, that the people of LGAs have resolved to vote enmass for the candidate of APC , West Senatorial zone, Hon. Sunday Karimi.
While calling on other politicians to show that they care for the people by donating handsomely to ameliorate the hardship faced by families of the flood victims.
Items donated include over one thousand pieces of five Kg bags of rice, vegetable oils and cash gifts.
