The Executive Chairman of Omala Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Ibrahim Yakubu Aboh has flagged off the distribution of relief materials to victims of communal Clashes in Bagana.
In his speech, the Council Chairman said, “the government is concern about the plight of the people. We know this is not an end, but to help cushion the effect of the crisis in Bagana and the devastating flood that took its toll on houses, crops and farmlands. More aids are still coming”, he said.
Items distributed include grains such as rice, maize and beans. Others are bags of cement, bundles of roofing sheets, nails, noodles, red oil, groundnut oil, mattresses, fishing nets, among others.
The flag off which held separately at the palace of Onu-Ife and local government Secretariat were jointly sponsored by the local government, through the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kogi State and Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
Beneficiaries and some representatives of the affected communities lauded the transparency displayed by the Executive Chairman, describing the gifts as a great succour, promised to make good use of the gesture.
