… Says Prof. Adagiri has been above board in handling the affairs of the hospital.
The National Youth Council , Kogi chapter has described the recent social media publication pushed for public consumption by one Chukwuemeka Mohammed, a faceless individual to discredit the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, Prof. Isah Yahaya Adagiri as uncalled for and totally unacceptable.
The publication has come to us in the Nigerian Youth Congress Kogi State Chapter as a rude shock, malicious and wicked.
In a media statement by the National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN kogi state and made available to Treasuretimes on Tuesday in Lokoja, kogi state capital.
The statement noted that it wouldn’t have responded to the frivolous and unfounded but very weighty allegation put forward by the arm-chair critic alleging that the management of the specialist Hospital, Lokoja headed by Prof. Adagiri has been encouraging hostile attitude towards patients on emergency cases in the hospital.
The writer of the piece of work accuses the CMD of doling out draconian policies that have negatively impacted on the well-being of patients in the Hospital that often leads to avoidable deaths.
” I want to quote the writer; “Doctors and Staff said the CMD has given order that a patient should not be attended to without following the channels of payment especially when the person is on NHIS. All receipts must be attended to”.
The writer is of the view that the hospital is more interested in the money paid by patients from their illness is zero, meaning the hospital often records large number of deaths.
But this position of the said writer of this obnoxious write-up shows he is not saying the truth, and it cannot be true because Kogites will agree with our Association that there is no iota of truth in the lies been peddle around by agent of destabilisation, whose target is to destroy the very good work being done by Prof. Adagiri. Our Association on a strong authority wishes to say that the information as canvassed by ignominious writer holds no water and very misleading.
It is an attempt to de-market the hospital, create fears on the minds of Nigerians and to create disaffection between staff and management of the health institution.
Our team from NYC was at the hospital as undercover agent to ascertain the rightness or wrongness of the alarm raised by the faceless individual and all we saw, heard and observed was that nothing in the allegation is near the truth, it was cooked up story.
To many of us that paid a visit to the hospital at the wake of the false alarm, we discovered that there have been a tremendous and massive facelift in the hospital especially in the last two years under the tutulage of Prof. Adagiri, several installation of State of the art medical facilities are in place, construction of an annex (a 2 story building), remodeling of existing structures, an improved staff welfare, improvement in electricity supply as well as water, recruitment of medical personnel and creation of an amorous and conducive environment among others.
Whatever has been achieved by prof. Adagiri has the strong tracking of the State government ably led by His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Governor of Kogi State, who has never one day found the Professor wanting at his duty post.
For many Kogites that know Prof. Isa Yahaya Adagiri very well, that will agree with this organization that he is a workaholic, dedicated, focused and highly principled. In various places where he has worked in the past such as at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Aminu Kano University Kano, Kaduna State University, Kaduna and other tertiary institutions where he was a visiting professor/consultant in the faculty of Public Health/Medicine, he was exceptionally good both as a lecturer and administrator.
The leadership traits in him earned him this appointment as the CMD of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja and at such he can’t be two bad as the anonymous writer wants us to believe.
It is also our view that the faceless writer should have supported his allegations with documents on the CMD’s directive not to treat patients until payment is done. There are salient questions to ask the writer: Did the writer go further to reach the management to confirm the directive and if he did, who did he meet and what was the response of the management?
The Nigerian Youth Congress, Kogi State chapter wishes to use this medium to appeal to the general public to be weary of this kind of false alarmist, who are only out to discredit some personalities for their selfish gain.
Our organization believes that someone or more were hired by some individuals within and outside the hospital to phantom lies in order to create panic and rancor in the hospital as well as destroy the good reputation of Prof. Adagiri.
For those critics and their disciple disciples who are out to give a dog a bad name should look somewhere else, Prof. Adagiri has been above board in handling the affairs of the hospital. Kogites must be fair to him. For those that have hand in the plot to create schism, imbroglio and upheaval in the health institution, they should desist from such ugly activity and they should realize that posterity will judge them for creating false alarm.
For the staff of the hospital especially the moles among them, we advise them to desist from it and work hard to support the management and to raise the current standard of the health institution.
What is clear to us in this organisation is that Kogi State Specialist Hospital is working extremely hard to be the best in Nigeria.
