Nigerianpost Holds Annual Public lecture
The Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has described Unity, Security and Justice as the cornerstone of his administration.
Bello noted that without security, peace and unity among the ethnic tribes in the state, there wouldn’t be meaningful development, stressing that his administration’s focus on even distribution of positions and development projects have made the state the most peaceful in the country.
The Governor made the disclosure at the Nigerian post newspapers annual public lecture and award nite to herald the 32nd anniversary of Kogi state, held in Lokoja.
Governor Yahaya Bello, who was represented by his Commissioner of Education, Honourable Wemi Jones, harped on need for the people to sustain the already established equity and justice in all spheres of the state.
He said the New Direction mantra has done its best to ensure peace, unity, equity, cordial relationship and mutual coexistence, since it’s assumption of office in 2016.
The Governor recalled that the administration has fought the criminals to a standstill after which it resorted the basics of laying the foundation for equity by ensuring that the socio economic amenities and political appointments were distributed to all sections of the state without bias.
Bello who cited two sectors of the government, education and health, noted with satisfaction that all the the three political zones were adequately taken care of.
According to Governor, with the Prince Abubakar Audu University, Ayingba in eastern Senatorial district already established before the advent of the administration, Confluence University of Science and Technology ( CUSTEC) was also establishment for the Central Senatorial district, while this year Western Senatorial district got the new Kogi state University, Kabba.
He explained that the principal officers of the institutions for both academic and administration were appointed evenly to ensure balance and equity,
Model Science Secondary schools have also been established with modern equipments while qualified Teachers were also recruited across the state.
On health, he said, a Reference hospital has been established at Okene, while ultra modern hospitals with the state of the art equipments have been constructed in all the Senatorial districts of the state.
While thanking the Nigerian post Newspaper and the Management for patriotism especially for its efforts in uniting the people of the state through robust and accurate journalism, urged the general public to patronise and support the newspaper outfit.
Highlight of the event was lecture paper presented by Professor Olayemi Akinwumi , Vice Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja with the theme: Sustaining unity, peace of the Confluence, This House must not fall” even as eminent Nigerians were honoured for their services to the nation.
