This is just as participants at the Build Environment and Building materials exhibition in its day 2 , has called on the Governments at all levels and the general populace to patronise made in Nigeria goods especially cement products.
The participants noted that the call became necessary because of the widespread appathy of Nigerians towards made in Nigeria goods, saying , general patronage to locally made products will enhance the provision of mass employment for the teeming youths and to grow the economy.
The BEBM exhibition which is aimed at showcasing and demonstrate the capacity and availability of manufacturing concerns in the country, assured that the home made products are of high quality and comparable to any products across the globe. .
The 5th Edition of the exhibition, host companies such as Dangote Cement, West Africa Ceramics Company, Silkcoat; milk and Honey Luxury Homes, Kogi Aluminium, others are NEPC, SON, Niwa, Wura paint, Nigerite, BN ceramics, NKFI and KGIRS, etc.
Speaking , Chairman , Advisory Council of BEBM exhibition, Chief Fejuku Benjamin Baalo Oworo Kingdom, commended the participants for their patience and consistency in attending the exhibitions despite their official demands.
He noted that the essence of the exhibition is to put local industries on the international map with their products to disabuse the perceptions of the people that home made products are of low quality .
He confirmed that most home made products such as Dangote Cement and others are of high standard and even higher than most products from other countries.
He commended Dangote Cement Company for her partnership with the BEBM , said , it is in recognition of their immense contribution to the success of the exhibition that today has been specifically dedicated to the company.
In a training session, Mr.Mustapha Abiodun, Assistant Manager, Dangote Cement led the participants through all the processes in the production of cement and block moulding.
He advise artisans to be safety and quality conscious while working with the cement to have best output.
He warned block moulders against leaving remnants of cement for a long time and also to avoid over exposure to water as it affects the overall strength of the blocks
He said the company takes the issue of standard very seriously as it ensure that all the products complied to its internal standard and SON standard with NIS logo inscribed on all the product.
He assured that Dangote Cement is customer centric always working hard to meet the expectations of the customers.
He explained that although, about 80 % of raw materials are sourced at home, gymsum, a very important raw material in the manufactures of cement is usually being imported from Europe, with its pressures on the foreign exchange.
He said the company is working on alternative sources of energy to reduce the cost of production as the cost of fossils fuel has gone off the roof
In separate remarks, participants commended the organiser and Dangote Cement Company for the opportunity to learn new methods in enhancing their trade
The Block moulders and tillers enjoined management of Dangote Cement Company to produce products that will enhance the works of tillers, as the two products on display are grossly inadequate for efficiency of their jobs.
Highlights of the day was the presentation of certificates of recognition by the BEBM to JAF Fortune blocks and two other block makers.
