ANSA: Promoting Unity, Diversity Through Story-Telling
The PENKUP International has sponsored, a Literary project aimed at celebrating the rich tapestry of human experiences and promote unity through the art of storytelling, tagged: “#100DaysOfDifferentStories”.
The 100-day long event which started on September 1, 2023, is a collaborative effort of the Association of Nigerian Student Authors (ANSA), the National Association of Young Authors (NAYA) and the Global Association of Young Authors (GAYA).
Giving an overview of the epoch-making event, Dr. Kennedy Oberhiri Obohwemu, the President and CEO of PENKUP International, said the #100DaysOfDifferentStories, was aimed at celebrating the rich tapestry of human experiences and promote unity through the art of storytelling.
According to him, the project officially began on 1st September 2023, and has been a journey of discovery and understanding, and the literary groups are excited to see it continue to grow.
Dr. Obohwemu, a multiple international award-winning Author, Public Health Expert, Researcher and Humanitarian, said the stories have the unique ability to transcend boundaries, ignite empathy, and bridge gaps between cultures and communities.
Obohwemu, who is also the Founder, Board Chair and Life Patron of ANSA, NAYA, and GAYA, said the conviction made the associations to embark on a journey to bring forth a collection of diverse narratives from voices all around the world.
He said he was thrilled to be witnessing the remarkable literary initiative that is a testament to the rich tapestry of storytelling within the associations, as the project would encourage individuals to share their unique stories, experiences, and perspectives.
“We believe that through this collective effort, we can foster greater understanding, empathy, and interconnectedness among people from all walks of life.
“We invite everyone, regardless of age, background, or location, to participate in this initiative. Your story is valuable, and it has the power to inspire, educate, and unite.
“Together, we can create a world where stories are the threads that bind us, a world where our differences are celebrated, and a world where unity and understanding prevail,” Obohwemu said.
He stressed that the ongoing event was a celebration of members and their invaluable contributions to the literary landscape in Nigeria.
According to him, the #100DaysOfDifferentStories is more than just a showcase of creativity; it’s a vibrant platform that amplifies the voices and narratives of our talented writers.
He added: “Each day brings a new story, a new perspective, and a new chapter in our literary journey.
“It is an embodiment of the diversity of storytelling, encompassing a range of genres and themes that reflect the depth of talent within our associations”.
He disclosed that the first lap of the #100DaysOfDifferentStories challenge was due to end in December 2023 with a second lap to commence in January 2024.

In their separate comments, Mukhtar Abdulazeez, the National Western Zonal Coordinator of ANSA; and ANSA’s National President and PENKUP Ambassador, Maymunah Kadiri, both commended the PENKUP International for the initiative.
Abdulazeez, who doubles as Founder of the Peak Academia, said he remained a passionate advocate for storytelling and the power of narratives to foster harmony and assortment.
“I believe that every individual has a unique story to tell, and through initiatives like #100DaysOfDifferentStories, we can connect with one another on a profound level.

On her part, Maymunah Kadiri said she was profoundly inspired by the dedication and passion of her members.
“This initiative showcases our members’ commitment to pushing the boundaries of literature, creating space for unconventional narratives, and exploring uncharted territories in the world of storytelling.
“In doing so, they not only enrich our literary heritage but also contribute significantly to the development of literature in Nigeria.

A participant, Jemilat Abdulkadir, said she had been an active participant of the project, and expressed her joy at being involved with the initiative.
“It has been a wonderful experience. At first I did not believe I could write different stories for the challenge but when I started with the help of God the possibility came. Then my eyes opened to the saying that you wouldn’t know what you can do until you start,” she said.
