The Governing Council of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba ,Kogi State in its sustained efforts to ensure steady development in both academic and infrastructure has identified some personalities that have made positive impact on the University for its recognition.
To this end, the Governing Council is to name some projects in the University on the incumbent and past Vice Chancellors of the Institution for their immense contributions to the development of the Ivory Tower.
The approval for the naming of the projects in honour of these personalities took place at the 67th regular meeting of the Governing Council of the University held at the Senate building in Anyigba.
Also on the honour list are, the current Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of the University, Professor Ibrahim Abdu-Aguye as well as a business mogul, Alhaji (Doctor) Dahiru Barau Mangal.
The University Governing Council noted that the incumbent Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Marietu Tenuche in particular has contributed immensely to the development of the University.
They listed some of her achievements to include, accreditation of courses, resuscitation of College of Health Sciences, rehabilitation/construction of campus roads, welfare of staff, general discipline among staff and students, efficient and prudent management of funds, enhanced security on campus, promotion of sporting activities among others.
The Council also said that the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Simon Koma Okwute will have a project named after him for his efforts in ensuring that the newly established University became a reality.
Other past Vice Chancellors, Professor Hassan Salihu Isah and Professor Muhammed Sani Abdulkadir are equally to be honoured for their outstanding achievements when they were Heads of the University.
Similarly, the Chief Executive Officer of Max Airlines Limited, Alhaji (Doctor) Dahiru Barau Mangal who is a renowned philanthropist will have a project named after him for actualising his pledge to reconstruct and rehabilitate the University Health Services Centre.
Some of the identified important projects on campus that will be named after these personalities are 3rd Inikpi Hostel, Central Research Laboratory and Anatomy Complex.
Others are Clinical Science Office Block Complex, Information Technology and Research Centre, ITRC, and University Health Services Center.
