Kogi Veterinary Doctors commend Gov Ododo for paying 100% hazard allowance
… Appeals for the harmonization, implementation of CONMESS
The Kogi State chapter of the Nigeria Veterinary Medical Association has commended governor Usman Ododo for fulfilling his campaign promises of paying its members 100% hazard allowance.
Addressing newsmen on Tuesday at their state secretariat, the Chairman of the association, Dr Tolu Omotugba said the Veterinarians and indeed all health workers in the state were appreciative of the governor’s good gesture and promised to serve the state with their best abilities and intellects.
The State Chairman who said the gesture has highly encouraged them to discharge their duties without complaint, promised to work hand in hand with the governor to fulfill his health agenda to the state.
The NVMA also expressed gratitude to the former administration under the leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Bello for recruiting 26 of its members to the state Civil service and providing the enabling environment for them to carry out their duties by signing into Law the Meat Hygiene and Animal Control Bill.
The NVMA chairman said the recruitment was novel and the first of its kind in the state stressing that it will discourage a situation where government will be running helter skelter to other states to look for Veterinary doctors in a case of emergency outbreak of animal- related diseases.
While saying his members worked round the clock to ensure there was no any outbreak of Anthrax disease in the state, he stressed that the association would soon embark on mass vaccination of animals in the state to prevent the deadly disease from entering the state.
The association however pleaded with governor Ododo to immediately consider the harmonisation and implementation of Revised Consolidated Medical Salary Structure ( CONMESS) approved by the immediate past governor for all the Doctors in the state civil service.
It said the implementation was done for only Human Doctors in the state leaving out the Veterinary Doctors.
