Alleging Senator Sunday Karimi’s Eight Months In Office Of Non-Performance Unnecessary, Callous, Political, Needless And Untimely -Kogi West Coalition Youth Group

A front-line coalition of youth groups in Kogi West Senatorial District has condemned in totality the alleged condemnation of the Senator representing the good people of Kogi West by some constituents describing it as political, needless, callous and untimely.

In a statement signed and made available to a newspaper in Lokoja by the Coordinator and Secretary of the group, Mr Oloruntoba Ayo Dada and Comrade Yusuf Abdulazeez said the actions of some few constituents who have been peddling this callous and needless allegation on social media against the Distinguished Senator who is just eight months in office is a total distraction and untimely for such, noting that such should be stopped to allow the Senator to focus on how to carry out his plans of qualitative representation to his people at the Red Chamber, his plan to empower the youth, emancipate the women and make Kogi West Senatorial district the best among the senatorial districts in Nigeria.

“Recall when Senator Sunday Karimi was in the Green Chamber representing the people of Yagba Federal Constituency, he initiated and completed projects in all the wards in Yagba Federal Constituency apart from giving employment to hundreds Yagba constituents and other massive empowerment programs he embarked upon for his constituents.

“It is disheartening and unfortunate to see some paid constituents on social media prompted by their political masters go out and attempt to bring down the integrity and image of the Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi all in the name of politics of vendetta and bring him down syndrome which has been one of the hallmarks of some people in the senatorial district.

“We want those who have been peddling the allegation against Senator Sunday Karimi and the good people of Kogi West senatorial district to know that comparing our focused, results-oriented and humanly driven Senator to some Senators who have rolled out some empowerment programmes in their Senatorial districts without mentioning that these Senators referred are second and third term members who are still using the 2023 budget for their constituents. Whereas, the time that such senators embedded such projects in the budget, our own Senator Sunday Karimi was not in the Senate until June last year when he took the oath of office. Let us wait to see what our senator has for us in 2024. He is capable and he would do justice to carry along all the seven local government areas under his watch.

“We want the good people of Kogi West Senatorial District to ignore their erroneous allegation which is being peddled against Senator Sunday Karimi who has been working day and night moving from one ministry to another, moving from one Senate leadership to another, collaborating and partnering with federal agencies across board in making sure he put a smile on the faces of the good people of Kogi West senatorial district.

“This is to assure the good people of Kogi West Senatorial District that, it is not going to be business as usual where constituents would just be empowered and that is all for four years. Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi is coming out with his superlative and massive developmental projects which would touch lives positively and cut across the seven local government areas in the Kogi West Senatorial District.

“We want to appeal to the good people of Kogi West senatorial district to see the importance of sponsoring a federal lawmaker beyond one or two terms. It is obvious in the Nigeria National Assembly that, the more you keep supporting your federal lawmaker to keep representing you, the more they have the chance of becoming one of the leaders of either the Senate or the House of Representatives. A returnee member who served as a third-timer at both chambers has the opportunity to get one of the positions in the National Assembly leadership or he/she gets one powerful committee chairman which would allow him/her to reach out to his constituents largely. The experience they also have to give qualitative and effective representation in pursuing their oversight functions and the experience to get what is necessary to their constituents which the newcomers would have no opportunity to achieve rather than going around to study the business and rules of the National Assembly as a first timer.

“We want to appeal to the good people of Kogi West senatorial district to be patient and continue to pray for Distinguished senator Sunday Karimi to succeed so that his plan for a prosperous, better and united Kogi West senatorial district of his dream would be achieved. He is just less than one year in office, and at the appropriate time, the Distinguished senator would begin to execute his plans for his constituents.

Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi is currently serving his first term in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly as the Chairman of, the Service Committee of the Senate. Upon resumption, the Egbe-born politician and federal lawmaker faced election litigation but won at both the High Court and Appeal Court respectively which affirmed him as the duly elected Senator representing Kogi West senatorial district.

Long live Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi

Long live Kogi West Senatorial District

Long live Kogi State

Long live Nigeria.
