The Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology NKFI has received approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to upgrade from an Innovative Educational Institute (IEI) into a Monotechnic
According to the Rector, Williams Charles Oluwatoyin who disclosed in a press statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, in Lokoja,said the details of the upgrade was contained in a letter by the NBTE dated Monday 18th of March, 2024 .
The Rector said with this development, the institution now offers certificates as National Diploma (ND) as against the National Innovative Diploma (NID) that was previously obtainable.
Oluwatoyin added that upon request by the institution’s management, the NBTE granted express approval giving certain conditions, all of which have all been met even before now.
He stated that the institution’s recent meeting with the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo alongside the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Mr. Sungil Son, yielded positive outcome.
While thanking the governor for his massive investment into the school that has made it a leading technical and vocational institute in Nigeria, expressed confidence that the governor will continue to give the institution necessary support that will enable it to place Kogi on the global map.
The Rector noted that the institution was fast affirming its place as a global force in the vocational and Technical education, saying with the timely upgrade by NBTE the institution is expanding access to qualitative technical and vocational education to teeming young Nigerians.
The Rector hinted that the Institution will soon organise ” Innovation Exhibition” to showcase the potentials of institutions to the world.
