Kogi Community charts new strategies to curb in insecurity in the Area.
The leadership of  Egume – Ome Descendants’ Union, (EODU) a community based association, has mapped out new strategies that will galvanise the stakeholders  to curb insecurity facing the the area.
The new National President of the Association , Comrade Sunday Maji made the disclosure over the weekend at Egume , in Dekina Local Government Area of kogi state.
Comrade Maji noted that the association will step up the liaison with stakeholders and security experts to restructure the security architecture that will be mobile and to respond promptly to the security infractions throughout the community and it’s environs.
Comrade Sunday Maji explained his new strategies to  the national delegate convention of the union  that the fight against security in the society will henceforth be a collective endeavours.
He pointed out that the present Executive would soon convene a town hall meeting of Gagos, Madakis and Stakeholders of Egume community to find measures that will nib in the bud  the persistence security challenges in the area.
The national president and his team, immediately after their inauguration paid visit to the acting Onu-Egume, the senior Gago, Salami
at Onu-Egume’s palace, saying all efforts would be geared towards giving facelift to the palace.
He expressed displeasure over the high level of vandalism carried out by suspected hoodlums in the community after the demise of the late Onu, and assured that no stone would be left unturned at apprehending the perpetrators ..
While  admonishing  all sons and daughters of Egume to be  enthusiastic about  the coronation of the new Onu-Egume, urge them to rally round the present Executive members to make the  palace habitable for the incoming Onu-Egume.
He called for the cooperation of the entire people of the community and it’s environs with the new executive members to enable them achieve maximum results.
The national president, however, task the people  to use the Easter Celebration and Ramadan Fast to seek for divine intervention in resolving the myriad problems confronting the nation and Kogi state at the moment.
“We must emulate these virtues by being committed to peace, unity, and the development of our dear fatherland. Certainly, we can achieve a lot more together in unity.” He said.
“Let us turn to God to heal our land from every form of insecurity and return us firmly on the path of wholesome economic recovery and prosperity”
Highlights of the convention was the election of  Sunday Maji – President, Comrade Musa Moses .- Vice President, Mr. Gabriel Edicha – Secretary, Okpanachi Attah – Assistant secretary, while the post of financial secretary went to Mr. Samuel Alfa.
Others are Mallam Idris Bako Ibrahim -Treasurer, Comrade Noah Ocheni (JP) P.R.O, Barr. Nuhu Shuaibu – Legal adviser,
Mr. Samuel Idachaba – Almanac Editor, Comrade Idris Alfa- Auditor while the immediate past President, Alhaji Muhammed Lawal was appointed grand Patron of the union.
