As the Nation grappled with the planned nationwide protest on Thursday, the Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC has displayed its readiness and capabilities in a show of force exercise across Lokoja, the state capital
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Dsc Aliyu Abdullahi made the disclosure in a Press Release made available to Treasuretimes on Wednesday in Lokoja.
Addressing the personnel at a parade , the commandant, Paul Igwebuike instructed officers to display highest sense of professionalism in the conduct of their duties through out the period.
The commandant stated that the decision to embark on show of force was a testament to the Corps commitment to maintenance of peace ,order and protection of lives and National critical assets of the country.
He warned Personnel against acts of indiscipline and will not hesitate to apply extant laws of the corps to punish those who compromised the integrity of the corps .
He particularly frowns at the misuse of firearms by overzealous officers, saying , no matter the provocations, the use of lethal arms should be the last options.
Speaking further, he advised personnel deployed for the exercise to display courage and determination to prevent security breach as efforts on display today will provide a safe and secured tomorrow for the Nation.
According to him, the show of force exercise is not to showcase any form of aggression,but a display of readiness and preparedness to confront eventualities.
