Graduation Ceremony: Majesty International College Lokoja Graduates 21 College Ambassadors in Kogi.

* Guest lecturer charges students to embrace entrepreneurship.

 

The Majesty International College Lokoja MIC has graduated Seven first set of SS3 students while 14 others successfully completed JSS3 in 2024 academic session.

This was disclosed during her maiden graduation ceremony held in the college auditorium over the weekend in Lokoja.

The principal of the college, professor Emmanuel Ohize charge the students dubbed Ambassadors to always exhibit the image and integrity of the school in their decisions and actions to the outer world.

He explained that Majesty International College, in few years of establishment has asserted itself as a leading educational brand in North Central Nigeria.
He added that the college , founded in February 1, 2022 , with initial 3 students , has experienced unprecedented growth with 174 students in August 2024 a testament to the college’s growing reputation among the people.

He noted that as part of her expansion demands, the college introduced new programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and mathematics along with a robust curriculum to create the capacity for teaching of foreign languages and programmes in Spanish, French and Arabic to complement high standard of English language even as programmes in Robotics,AI, Coding,and machine learning were introduced making the college an institution of first choice in the state.

Prof. Ohize informed that the college is driven by commitment and a team of experienced educators empowers students to reach their full potential, with a focus on academic rigor, innovation and character development, and fostering of a community of lifelong learners and leaders .
” As the college continue to expand, there is even a bigger picture fĆ²r greatness , sustainability and growth and as we continue to grow and evolve our mission to provide world-class education that prepare students for success in an ever changing world remains steadfast” He assured.
In a lecture titled ” Rebranding Education, entrenching entrepreneurship culture in Nigeria, Polices and framework for fostering peace, prosperity and unity in a nations state” the Guest lecturer, Dr. Amos Ichaba, noted that the emerging social and economic situations in the country calls for paradym shift in orientation from earning salaries to making money.
He said the salaries earned by workers could no longer sustained them from the gates of their employers, therefore a new thinking from both inside and outside the box to inculcate entrepreneurship in the students become a necessity
Dr. Ichaba who is of the Department of philosophy and religion studies, Federal University Lokoja,disclosed that the dearth of employment opportunities, delayed salaries and introduction of percentage salaries have worsened the woes of workers, hence, the need to create businesses to stay afloat in the dynamic and challenging environment.
He added , for the country to overcome her challenges, a pragmatic policies and programmes aimed at fostering peace, unity and prosperity should be enacted as the only means of guarranteeing the survival of nation- state, ensuring prosperity for all becomes sine qua non for the survival of the country.
He urged the political leadership to put in place policies that guarantee energy security, access to credit and other measures to support enterprises as an impetus to attract majority of citizens to create businesses of their own and grow wealth for the nation
He charged the students to be emboldened to take their destinies in their hands as they face the challenges of the future, by embracing entrepreneur if they want to be financially independent to drive a sustainable economy.

Earlier, professor Dauda Tanko, Chairman of the occasion, said the theme of the lecture, Branding Nigeria Education was apt as the country adopted the colonial masters” educational system hook line and sinker without infusing their home grown system which has limited desired growth of education in the country.
He suggested that for the country to move forward, it needs to brand its education system that will enshrine entrepreneurship and productivity to making people to create wealth rather than seeking for elusive white collar jobs.

Prof.Tank who is the deputy provost, post graduate studies , federal University Lokoja bemoaned the high rates of insecurity, cost of living and poverty warned the students against being lured into crimes such as Bokoharam and Yahoo recruiters for the sake of making fast money.
While congratulating the graduating students for completing their programmes in record time , commended parents for the sacrifices made for their children and wards and appeal for continuous support for the next face of their academic pursuits.
In a remark, a parent, Alhaji Shehu Usman Ochidi, member Kogi state House of Assembly, thumbs up for the Majesty International College for maintaining international standards in the college as the performances in both internal and external examinations attest to their being among the best Secondary schools in the country.
He disclosed that with the introduction of entrepreneurship and skills acquisition in MIC curriculum, the college is turning out all round graduates competent in academics and in innovation.

While encouraging the people to emphasize on entrepreneurship to own their destinies, urged federal and state governments to create conducive environment to attract every one to create their businesses to earn additional income to fight poverty and hunger in the land..
He commended parents and students for the feat achieved and called those who wants the best education for their children and wards to patronise Majesty International College.
The graduation ceremony drew parents, students from other colleges, tradition chiefs, officials of Majesty West Africa Company, host communities and the press
Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of prizes to deserving students, cultural, caresthenic displays, quiz and mastery display of Spanish, French and Arabic languages.
