2024 Kogi PRESS WEEK: Gov. Ododo challenge Journalists On ethical standards

Kogi State Government has called on journalists to always be guided by the principle of objectivity and overriding public interest as they discharge their roles of informing, analysing and stimulating debate on government programmes and policies.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo made the call in a message to the grand finale of Press Week organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council at EdgeDrive Hotel, lokoja.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Media , Ismaila Isah said theĀ  administration had taken bold steps to renew existing cordial relationship between the government and the media.
He expressed appreciation to NUJ membersĀ  for their commitment, fruitful partnership and hard work, emphasizing that it had engendered transparency and accountability in governance.
The NUJ National President, Chief Chris Isiguzo, who was represented by his Deputy president, Alhaji Hassan Yahaya commended the new leadership of the Council for its open door policy adding thatĀ  kogi NUJ has always been a peaceful home for him.
He commended the developmental strides of Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo, calling on the media to continue to give him the needed support.
The State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Sheidu Ademu commended the Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo for his immense achievement within the short period he assumed office.
Comrade Ademu appreciated the Governor for the recent appointments of the two of the members as Managing Director of Graphic Newspaper and Director General Of Radio Kogi, describing it as a highly commendable honour to the NUJ Community.
He however appealed to the state government for continuous partnership and the fulfilment of promises made for procurement of an official bus and renovation of the NUJ Press Centre, which was in total distress.
While urging members to maintain the ethical standards in the exercise of their reportorial duties , commended members for their cooperation , support and understanding for his administration.
