Stop creating Unrest, crises in Kogi NMA as  NMA President Cautions Abubakar, Adaranijo, CMD FTHL

The National President of the Nigeria Medical Association NMA, Dr. Prof. Bala Mohammed Audu has warned the duo of Dr Abubakar Hassan and Dr. Adaranijo Kolapo to desist from parading themselves as chairman and secretary of Kogi State Council of Nigeria Medical Association.

This is just as the National Officers Council NOC has ratified the State Officers Council SOC led by Dr Aazee Jimoh chairman and Dr. Freeman Uche as Secretary while the immediate past Chairman, Dr. Sola Baoku serves as the ex officio member 1

This was disclosed through a letter dated 13 September,2024 , signed by the Secretary General of NMA, Dr. Benjamin Egbo and made available to Newsmen on Wednesday in Lokoja.

The highly worded letter which copied IG, Kogi CP, DSS, NSCDC: Kogi NMA, Ministry of health, Bankers of State NMA and the CMD Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja, frowned at the purported sinister moves by the duo parading and usurping the powers and office of the chairman and Secretary of the Council.

The Secretary General noted that the said doctors knowing fully well that they lacked the authority to exercise the powers thereof with intention to deceive the government and general publics for pecuniary and other considerations.

According to the letter, Dr. Abubakar Hassan, who is the Director Medical Services of Kogi State has repeatedly paraded himself as Chairman of the Kogi state branch of NMA and has been issuing correspondences on behalf of the association, as such act can only be described as fraudulent and utmost disrespect to the constitution of the revered association.

He warned him that any person or group of persons outside the legally constituted Exco led by Dr. Aazee Jimoh parading himself and acting without authorisation would be deemed as attempting to create unrest and crisis in kogi state medical environment, a situation that would not be tolerated by the Association.

He added that the duo of Dr. Abubakar Hassan and Dr. Adaranijo Kolapo should be reminded that the state branches derived its legitimacy from the National body and can not act in isolation and disrespect of the umbrella body of the Nigerian doctors.

He disclosed that the warning became imperative for the impostors in question, cannot continue to cause embarrassment to the association stressing that any repeat of act of indiscipline by the individuals or any other groups whatsoever would be deemed as bringing the association to disrepute.

Recalled that the NMA National body had through a memo vide NMA /PRE/SG/07/0084 dated on 12/08/24 notified the Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo of the successful conduct of election of the Association and emergence of State Officers Committee SOC that will oversee the activities of association in the state during the duration of their tenure.

Those elected for the 2024-2026 are.
1/ Dr. Aazee Jimoh Chairman.
2) Dr. Daniels Sebastine Tunde vice chairman
3) Dr. Umar Jimoh 2nd Vice chairman.
4) Dr. Uche Chuck’s Freeman Secretary
5). Dr. Ibeaja Ikechukwu vice secretary
6) Dr.Atabo Aminat Treasurer
7) Dr oyereyi Rasheed Director of Welfare
8) Dr Hafisa Idris Muhammed Director of publicity
9)Dr. Nelson Agbo Uja financial Secretary
10)Dr. Ibekwe kelechi Jenifer Auditor.
11).Dr. Baoku olusola , the immediate past chairman still has a statutory running term as Ex officio 1.

He noted that by this correspondence, all relevant government agencies and institutions in the state are hereby notified of the emergence of the new NMA Kogi State Officers Committee SOC who are duly recognised by the National body of NMA.

However, the National body through its conflict resolution mechanism has been able to resolve. all lingering problems affecting the association in kogi state.

Recalled that the NMA Kogi state was enmeshed in crisis which prompted the National body to set up transition committee who subsequently conducted the election.
