6 FuL Students, driver, killed as trailer rammed into shuttle bus in Lokoja.
No fewer than six students of Federal University Lokoja, were feared to have been killed by a trailer which rammed into their waiting shuttle bus , at Felele bus stop in Lokoja.
The incident occurred around 2.30 pm when the students had boarded the shuttle bus enroute the permanent campus of the University in Felele , end of lokoja, before , a trailer coming from the southern states to Abuja lost break, crossed the pavement and knocked the bus and the occupants.
Unconfirmed report said six students and the driver of the shuttle bus were killed in the accident.
According to an eye witness account, the Trailer which was carrying building construction materials at the honey gold junction, also ran into tricycles and passer-by.
The account has it that the Felele end of Lokoja – Okene expressway has been hotbed for trailer accidents which often attributed to break failure and over speeding , even as speed breaker ( bumps) were erected to prevent recurrence, before this unfortunate happened again.

On hearing of the sad news of their colleagues, the students mobilised themselves and block the ever busy highway as security personnel were seen working frantically to clear the gridlock as at the time of filing this report.
However, officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission were on hand to rescued some victims that were trapped under the articulated vehicle and those who lost their lives.
The State Sector Commandant of the FRSC, Mr. Samuel Oyedeji who led team to the scene of the accident confirmed that four persons lost their lives.
He however disclosed that those who were injured have been moved to Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja and Kogi State Specialist Hospital also in Lokoja for further treatment, while bodies have been deposited in the Morgue of the hospitals for identification.
