ATABOR JULIUS LOKOJA.
As the appointments of headship of tertiary institutions in the country, have left much to be desired, the Catholic Bishop of Idah Diocese, Anthony Ademu Adaji, has cautioned Gov’ Ododo to consider merits and integrity above political consideration in the appointment of heads of state own tertiary institutions.
This, the fiery Bishop said , has become necessary to engender competence,  transparency, accountability, peace and sustainability of the ongoing transformation going on at the Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba , under the Vice Chancellor, Professor Marietu Tenuche.
This is just as the 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi has commiserated with the families of  Kano state correspondent of  AIT. Mr. Jeremiah Enemona Ocheme over the death of  his mother.
Bishop Adaji gave the advise in a sermon he delivered at the funeral mass of late Helen Adija Ocheme, the mother of Jeremiah Ocheme of AIT held on Friday at Saint Charles Catholic church  Ankpa, kogi state.
The clergy man noted that education sector is so crucial to the development of society, hence , it should not be left to vagaries of political affiliations as criteria for the appointment of the heads of state sponsored tertiary institutions.
He said , the appeal is to allow those with competence and of high moral values are  appointed into the highest positions of tertiary institutions in the state to allow continuity , peace and academic excellence.
According to him, as the tenure of the present vice chancellor of PAAU , prof. Marietu Tenuche is winding down, Gov’Ododo should consider merit and integrity in choosing her successor to maintain peace and academic excellence already recorded in the university.
In his exhortation, he encouraged the family of the deceased to be  consoled by the fact that their matriarch has gone to be with the lord as she lived a dedicated and committed Christian life.
He urged the family to emulate their mother, whose life on earth was pleasing to Almighty God who called her home during church service on the first day of January 2025 .
He stated that everything under the sun has expiring date and as  such, mama has completed her race here on earth and has  been called home to be with her maker, assuring that with the  outpouring testimonies, she would have been at the bosom of our lord Jesus Christ for eternity.
He called on the family to remain as Catholics throughout their lives and uphold family cohesion even after the departure of their mother.
Meanwhile, former Presidential candidate of Labour Party in the last election, Mr. Peter Obi, represented by, High Chief Peter Ameh , has this say  to the family of Ocheme
