Kogi Govt. Redeploys Teachers in MDAs to Classrooms.
In his unwavering commitment to energise and bridge teachers pupils– ratio , kogi state government has finalized arrangements to redeploy teachers who worked their ways into Ministry, Departments and Agencies.
Governor Ododo made the disclosure recently at the flag off ceremony of Conditional Cash Transfer to adolescent girls in Secondary Schools by Adolescent Girls Initiative in learning and empowerment Project (Agile) in Lokoja.
The Governor noted with dismay that Teachers employed to teach in primary and secondary schools surreptitiously found themselves in the ministries, Departments and Agencies creating wide vacuum in the classrooms across the state.
He disclosed that he has audited the affected employees, who were originally employed to teach in the schools who have transferred their services to MDAs, stressing that arrangements have been concluded to transfer them back to the classrooms.
” It is worrisome to see most of the schools without enough teachers , despite mass recruitment of teachers, to beef up our campaign to provide qualitative education for the pupils. I will not condone this practice and it must stop.
” Those to be redeployed needs not to wonder at all, since we have harmonise salary of teachers with local Government Councils and state workers. Wether you are a permanent Secretary, Director or any positions and you were initially employed as teachers, you should expect your redeployment any moment from now.”
He bemoaned the situation where LGEA offices are choked with teachers , leaving the classrooms without commensurate teaching staff, saying, his administration which is committed to provide free and qualitative education would not allow this practice to prosper.
He hinted that his administration has banned school fees in primary, Junior and secondary schools and has gone ahead to pay for Waec, transition exams and Jamb fees to enable unfettered schoolings across the state.
He commended Agile for the meticulous selection of the first batch of 13,359 girls who cart home the sum of #40,000 each, and warned parents not to tinker with the money , as the cash was customised for the intended purpose.
