Promises to fast tract development of state, host communities.
The Kogi State House of Assembly has confirmed the five-man nominees of the State Oil Producing Development Commission.
The Managing Director , James Jackson Omonu, assure that with the caliber of people on the commission, the state will witness rapid development and pledges to make the commission the best performing development commissions in the country.
He commended Gov. Ododo for the establishment of the commission and the appointment of seasoned members of the board and promised to contribute their quota to the rapid transformation of the state.
The lawmakers on July 24 received Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s nomination for the Commission.
Consequently, the nominees were screened on Friday morning and confirmed during the plenary.
This is coming few days after the Governor signed the law establishing the Commission.
The five nominees are; Omonu Jackson James, Managing Director, Suleiman Ndalayi, Chairman and Olushola Matthew Kolawole as Executive Director.
Others appointed as Executive Directors are; Isah Yakubu Jatto, Usman Nda Muhammed and Olori Michael.
During the screening, the Speaker, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf asked the Commission Chairman to explain how the members intended to address the problems confronting Oil Producing Areas of the State.
He used the occasion to stress the fact that all the nominees were experienced hands in various areas of endeavor and appealed to the members to grant them the opportunity to prove their mettle and make the state proud.
Apart from the duo, the former Speaker used the opportunity to express gratitude to the lawmakers for the respect accorded him as a former Principal Officer, and assured them that he would not disappoint the state in the new assignment, when confirmed.
In an interview with the commission’s Chairman shortly after the screening, he promised that the Commission would provide competent leadership, and ensure effective oversight of management
“We shall provide competent leadership and the required oversight of Management so that the Commission will be restored as the catalyst of the state’s development.
“We will pursue our mandate with vigour and fidelity.
“As a Commission, we will provide strategic direction, set clear performance indicators, and uphold sound corporate governance.
“We are determined to create an enabling environment for our Management and Staff to deliver measurable results aligned with our key performance targets. Importantly, we will hold ourselves accountable – individually and collectively,” the chairman stressed.
Earlier during Friday’s plenary, the Assembly had also confirmed the nomination of TP Salihu-Otaru Kehinde Augustine as the Director General, Kogi State Bureau of Lands.
His confirmation also followed rigorous screening by the Assembly, where he answered questions on how he would revolutionize the land sector
