” NBA Flays kidnapping in Kogi East.
The daredevil gunmen have on Saturday abducted a Catholic Reverend Father Wilfred Ezemba of St Paul Parish, Agaliga-Efabo in Olamaboro local government Area of Kogi State .
This is just as a lawyer, Barrister A.B Shaibu was also kidnapped in the same area a fortnight ago raising security concerns in the zone.
It was learnt that the Rev Father may have been abducted alongside others yet to be identified in a vehicle they were traveling along Imane-Ogugu road.
According to the locals, the abduction of FR. Ezemba has thrown the Catholic community in the area into confusion as the kidnappers have not opened line of communication three days after he was whisked away.
Our correspondent learnt that the security agencies, comprising Kogi East Neighborhood Watch (KENW), Police and troops have been combing the bushes and forests in the locality to rescue him from the kidnapper’s den.
“The abduction of the Rev. Fr. Ezemba is said to be the second incidence of kidnapping in recent time within the same local government as Bar A B Shaibu was also Kidnapped on 7-09-2025 Sunday evening by Gun men.
His abduction occured between Etieke and Okugoh in the same local government even as ransom was allegedly paid before he was released ” The locals disclosed .
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Bar Association NBA, Idah Branch has called on government and Security Agencies to take adequate steps to address security breach particularly, the issue of incessant kidnappings going on in Kogi State, especially in Kogi East.
“We, the Nigerian Bar Association, Idah Branch, urgently call for drastic steps to address the alarming rate of insecurity in Kogi East. Recent incidents, including the kidnapping of our member, A.B. Shuaib Esq, at Okugo in Olamaboro Local Government Area, and frequent abductions along Okura-Ojapata, Ochadamu-Itobe-Ajaokuta-Lokoja Road, and Ikeje-Aloma Road, underscored the dire needs for enhanced security measures.
“It is expected that the Government will hearken to the cry of concerned citizens to address the issue of recurrent kidnappings going on in Kogi State” said Barr Michael.
Efforts to confirm the incident from the Police command spokesperson, SP Williams Aya, proved abortive , as calls to his cellphone was not successful.
