Clinches to SA, to Minister of Blue Economy
Kogi state group under the aegis of Indigenes of Lokoja has accused the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO), of National Inland Waterways Authority Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, of marginalisation and outright relegation of the interests of the indigenes of Lokoja, the host community.
This is just as the group alleged that the Managing Director still clinched to his office as Special Adviser SA to the Minister of Blue Economy which has made him to abdicate his duty, while running the Authority from Abuja.
The group in a statement signed by Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf and made available to Journalists on Saturday in Lokoja, frowns at the Managing Director, Mr.Oyebamiji’s running of the Authority from Abuja, even though NIWA headquarters is domicile in Lokoja , kogi state capital.
The statement also accused the NIWA boss of prioritizing his political ambition in Osun State over his official responsibilities, claiming that the NIWA boss still maintain his position and influence as a Personal Assistant to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola.
According to the statement “Lokoja hosts NIWA’s headquarters, but our people are not being employed here.The MD/CEO hardly stays in Lokoja; he prefers to run the agency from Abuja while focusing on his political ambition in Osun State. He only comes around once in two months, and when he does, it’s just briefly.”
Alhaji Yusuf , however called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Steve Sunday Karimi, and the member representing Lokoja–Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Danladi Sulaiman Aguye, to call the MD to order and ensure that major operations are held in Lokoja, even as the indigenes of Lokoja should be considered for gainful employment in line with the provision of federal character Commission , fairness, equity and justice
