Group blasts Kogi East Elite Forum , Defends Sen. Karimi stand on power rotation in Kogi.
As the political activities for 2027 gathered momentum, a group under the aegis of Kogi West Leaders League (KWLL) has reaffirmed its commitment to stand with Senator Sunday Karimi in the pursuit of Kogi West’s right to occupy the Governor’s seat in 2027.
The group who made their position know on Tuesday in Lokoja while reacting to a the position of Kogi East Elite Forum (KEEF) condemning the call for power rotation by the Kogi West Senator.
Spokesperson for the group, Canon Andrew Baiyekuhi described the Kogi East Elite Forum as an “emergency vehicle” formed to hijack and undermine the genuine aspirations of Kogi West people.
They emphasized that no amount of scheming, payments, or disgruntled individuals from the Kogi East Elite Forum can derail the demand of Kogi West’s claim to Lugard House in 2027.
While passing a vote of confidence on Senator Karimi, the group added that the Senator’s statement on power rotation at the recent Kabba Day celebration reflects the yearning of Kogi West.
”The Senator has not only fulfilled his senatorial duties of representation but has also contributed to bringing dividends of democracy to the district.”
KWLL dismissed claims by Dr. Abubarka Rajab and the Kogi East Elites Forum, stating that hiring individuals with tainted records to speak for Kogi East is both laughable and futile.
”Kogi East Elites Forum is a gathering of failed politicians lacking confidence, whose spokesperson has lost relevance and integrity in Kogi East politics.
”Kogi West’s determination to achieve the governorship through sincere dialogue with Kogi East and Kogi Central, is a process already underway.
”After 34 years of statehood, it is time for Kogi West to have its turn in the spirit of justice, equity, fairness, and good governance.
“Kogi West has been denied power for too long. The demand for 2027 is rooted in justice and the desire for good governance. We will work with like-minded individuals from all three senatorial districts to deliver true democracy and development.”
The group recalled that Kogi Central had four years of power in the old Kwara State and will by 2027 have enjoyed 16 years at the expense of Kogi West. “The yearning for justice, equity, and good governance cannot wait,” they added.
