Create personal brand to remain relevant, Actionaid tells Journalists.

Against the backdrop of harsh economic realities occasioned by the covid 19 pandemic, Journalists have been challenged to develop personal brand to remain afloat in the profession .

Omolola Oladimeji, Lead Consultant, Women in Media gave the charge while making a presentation on Improving Your Personal Brand as a Journalist

at a 2- Day Media Master Class on Preventing Violent Extremism In Kogi and Nasarawa States, with the theme: Passing The Baton; Co-Creating Sustainable Peace through Journalism.

The Training is funded by Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) and facilitated by ActionAid Nigeria in collaboration with her state-based partners; Participation Initiative for Behavioural Change in Development (PIBCID), Global Peace Development (GPD) and Beacon Youth Initiative (BYI), Kogi and Nasarawa States respectively.

The 2- Day training is in pursuance of the System and Structure Strengthening Approach against Radicalisation to Violent Extremism (SARVE II) project being wind down Kogi and Nasarawa states.

The Resource Person urged Journalists to engage in Personal Brand as it would help create a niche for themselves, advance their careers and create opportunities.

While noting that the world is becoming social media oriented, she disclosed that it can be used to advance the Journalism profession through reaching several shades of followers.

The Resource Person charged Journalists to network and build relationships with the social media, avoid fake news, unsubstantiated content and source, plagiarism, but to remain consistent with credibility.

The Resource Person urged Journalists to improve on their branding by being active in their Communities, master their multi media knowledge and be consistent in capacity building to get improved in the profession.
