AEDC Staff Electrocuted in Lokoja

 

An young man alledged to be a casual staff of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) Plc, Lokoja branch was on Thursday Electrocuted while working on high tension wire in Madabo area of Lokoja.

The deceased, Malam Muhammadu Buhari, a father of one, identified as Bapati, had gone to Madabo transformer point around 9: 30am to rectify a fault at the pole when the incidence occurred

There was power outage which was expected to be restored by 10:00am when the deceased mounted the pole.

According to our reporter, the power was restored when the deceased mounted the pole and was on the process of rectifying the fault when power was Suddenly restored 30 minutes ahead of time.

The source said the 32-year-old man was instantly electrocuted, adding that his corpse was later evacuated by good Samaritans from the area.

The deceased is survived by his mother, sister and brother, among who is Sani Karachi, a popular Lokoja horse rider and politician.

 

Efforts to reach the officials of the AEDC to confirm the incident proved difficult as the authorities were said to have gone to the Police Station to report the incident before making any statement.

Similarly, all efforts to reach the Police Public Relations officer to confirm the incidence proved abortive as he was not picking his calls.
