Comrade Salifu Joel Wins Kogi NUT Chairmanship.
Comrade Salifu Joel has emerged the new Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT.
In a competitive election held yesterday in Lokoja, Salifu polled 155 votes to beat his closest rival, Ibrahim Yusuf, who scored 89 votes.
Comrade Salifu Joel who hails from Ofu Local Government Area of the state will serve for a term of four years.
Other state Officers elected are , Comrade Ayoride-Deputy chairman unopposed,comrade Otaro Idris first vice Chairman, Comrade Rabi Sadiya Treasurer, Comrade Orbajor Suleiman-National representive of kogi state NUT,and Audu Ozovehe ā State publicity secretary.
Also elected are,Comrade Andrew John State Auditor one, Comrade Dayo-state Auditor 2 ,comrade Aminu Ibrahim -Vice Chairman 2,vice Chairman 3, Comrade Grace and, Comrade Shaibu Anadavi vice Chairman, 4
In his acceptance speech comrade Salifu expressed gratitude to delegates and critical stakeholders for finding him worthy to be their leader.
According to him,the Union under his watch will bring teachers together under one roof with a view to form a common front.
Comrade Salifu Joel promised.to collaborate with other trade Unions in order to achieve the set goals
He stressed that his administration will not be confrontational and antagonistic adding that he was ready to approach Government through dialogue and negotiation for the betterment of primary School teachers
Comrade Joel commended the immediate past chairman of the Union, comrade Thomas Aderemi Ayodele for providing quality service and lasting legacies for the present leadership of the Union to build on.

The Principal Assistant secretary general from State wing of the Union , Comrade Asibade Olu Gbenga alongside two other electoral Officers who conducted the election described the process as credible and transparent.
