Egume community laments sales of FG Properties in kogi The National body of Egume-Ome Descendants Union (EODU) has raised an alarm over the illegal sales and acquisition of Federal government property in Egume in Dekina local government area of Kogi state. In a disclaimer letter signed by the president, Mr. Sunday Maji reads “The attention of the Apex Socio-Cultural Organization of Egume, Headquarters of Okura District, has been drawn to the activities of certain individuals and groups who are parading themselves as agents and representatives of the Federal Government of Nigeria.” The Organization pointed out that these unidentified individuals and groups purportedly identifying, disposing of, and auctioning properties allegedly belonging to the Federal Government within Egume and its environs. “Following enquiries and consultations within the community, the National body of Egume-Ome Descendants Union (EODU) wishes to categorically state that it has no prior knowledge, involvement, or official information regarding the said activities.” “At no time has the Organization been formally notified, consulted, or furnished with any authentic documentary evidence from any duly authorized Federal Government agency confirming the legitimacy of such identification, disposal, or auction of properties.” The President further disclosed that none of the individuals involved has presented to the Organization any verifiable legal instruments, letters of authority, gazette, court order, or other official documentation establishing that they have been duly mandated by the Federal Government of Nigeria to undertake such transactions within Egume and the Headquarters of Okura District. “In view of the foregoing, the Organization hereby disassociates itself entirely from the purported exercise and advises all members of the public, prospective buyers, investors, and other interested persons to exercise utmost caution.” Mr. Maji stressed that anyone who chooses to engage in negotiations, purchase, bid for, or otherwise transact with the said individuals or groups does so entirely at his or her own risk, as the Organization shall not be held responsible or liable for any loss, dispute, or consequence arising from such dealings. “Members of the public are strongly encouraged to independently verify the authenticity of any purported Federal Government property, the identity of the persons conducting the exercise, and the legal authority under which they claim to be acting, through the appropriate Federal Government institutions before entering into any transaction.” “We will continue to cooperate with relevant government authorities and agencies to ensure that due process, transparency, and the rule of law are upheld in all matters affecting our community.” Mr. Maji affirmed.
