* Blacklists 20 supervisors for aiding malpractices .
National Examinations Council (NECO) has released results of the 2021 internal senior school certificate SSCE examination and recorded 2.25 percent decrease in the level of students who passed with five credits and above including English and Mathematics.
The registrar/chief executive of National Examination Council, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi released the results to journalists in Minna,disclosing that the actual number that sat for the extermination is 1,226,796 with 653,418 Male representing 53.26 percent and 573,378 female representing 46.74 percent,adding that 878, 925 candidates passed with five credits and above including English and Mathematics representing 71.64 percent.
The Registrar Professor Dantani stated that the level of passes using the template of five credits and above including English and Mathematics showed 2.25 decrease as against that of 2020 when 894,101 candidates passed, representing 73.89 percent.
He gave the details of the result as follows, 945,853 representing 77.72 percent made credit and above in English while candidates who made credit and above in Mathematics is 1,094,291 representing 90 percent.
He further disclosed that the number of candidates involved in various forms of malpractice in 2021 is 20,003 representing 1.63 percent as against 2020 that 33, 470 cases were involved representing 2.61 percent.
Professor Danlani Wuushishi mentioned that the council had zero tolerance for examination malpractice,adding that malpractice incidence in 2021 dropped compared to the figure of 2020,this he said is attributed to the deployment of biometric verification devices and strengthening the extermination monitoring strategy in term’s of scope and depth.
Professor Dantani stated that five schools one each in Bauchi, Kaduna and Bayelsa and two in Kastina states were recommended for de-recognition in NECO examination for two years due to their involvement in mass cheating/whole school case’s.
According to him twenty supervisors were blacklisted for various offences ranging from poor supervision, Aiding and Abetting, connivance with non-candidates to write answers on chalkboard,compromise and extortion.
