The prompt intervention of the members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Ajaka Division, of the Kogi State Command, has calmed down what would have become violent protest by the students of the federal polytechnic Idah in kogi state.
The Students who at the early hours of Tuesday converged on the 2nd gate of the Polytechnic and were ready for a protest over the hitches experienced by the students in the course of regularising their JAMB documents.
In a press release made available to Treasuretimes on Tuesday , the Divisional Civil Defence officer of Ajaka Division DSC Sule Sumaila disclosed that on receipt of the distress call, he mobilised his men who took control of the premises and critical assets from probable attack.

He noted that his officers who displayed high level of professionalism , by employing dialogue with the students and was able to bring the situation under peaceful control.
He added that his mem promptly put a call to the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Baba Danjuma , whose address to the students on efforts put in place to address the situation also helped in calming frey nerves.
According to him, ” My officers while taking control of the entrance to the polytechnic, also manned critical infrastructures within the vicinity to prevent miscreants from taking advantage of the protest to vandalise the properties” He assured.
The Divisional officer , stressed further, that , the men of the NSCDC were proactive in bringing the situation under control, stating that no act of violence or security breach to the property of the school and other critical infrastructures was recorded at the time of filling this report.
He called on the public to give prompt and useful information to the Security Agencies in order to fight crime and criminality.
