Women have been described as a strong pillar in nation building.

Kogi State Chairperson, Association of Women Town Planner of Nigeria, Mrs. Joy Oyiza Obadoba made the remark in an interview with newsmen.

 

Mrs. Obadoba, who is also a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Idah said over the years, women have been committed to the development of the society and should be supported for rapid transformation of the society.

 

She noted that the Association advocates gender equality and training of women in planning in terms of professionalism in all their activities being carried out in the society.

 

“When you look at our society and part of Africa society where we belong, we understand that women have key role in nation building and we are committed to see that women play their part to ensure that Nigeria becomes a sustainable country”.

 

Mrs. Obadoba noted that the Association under her watch has recorded numerous achievements and promised to continue to do more, adding that her legacies in academic world are also topnotch through advocating girl child education.

 

She appreciated Mrs Ayesha Noor, the Research Assistant, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bangladesh; The town planner, Francisca Opaluwa, the Area Town Planning Officer, Igalamela /Odolu Local Government; Town Planner, Mr. Sani Daniel among others for their support and contributions so far.
