Against the backdrop of ongoing strike embarked by university teachers across the Country, Pro Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of Federal University Lokoja, Senator Chris Adighije has assured the people of early resolution of the dispute to enable students to return to campuses.
Senator Chris Adighije who is a member of the 7Man Committee set up by the Government to proffer solutions to the impasse gave the assurance on Tuesday in Lokoja, while commissioning some legacy projects at both the college of Health sciences, Adankolo and main campuses of the University in Felele ,Lokoja.
Adigijie who lamented the lingering ASUU strike that has affected the students, Asuu members and all the stakeholders, said , the early resolution will save the nation from unwholesome effect on the educational development of the country.
The Pro Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, however, solicited for the understanding and patience by all the stakeholders so as to end the impasse once and for all to restore the dignity of the educational sector of the country.
According to him” My hope is that, very soon, the entire problem will be solved. I call for concerted efforts of everybody to show understanding and patience. It is better to resolve this matter once and for all, and i can tell you, the federal government is committed to early resolution.” He assured
While commissioning the projects which include, Printing press, signage in front of the main campus, ring roads linking administrative blocks to faculties and a symbolic planting of trees, commended the university management for massive infrastructures development in the face of dwindling resources.
The Chancellor who attributed the growth to both former vice chancellors and current ,Vice Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwunmi for their relentless energies put in to meet the dreams and aspirations for the establishment of the University.
The lawmaker who attributed the growth and transformation of the university as the handiwork of the Vice Chancellor who he described as a performer per excellence.
The Chairman solicited for the sustained TETFUND support to fastract infrastructure development of the federal University Lokoja and others to close up the infrastructures deficit in the ivory towers.
He advocated for the review of extant law establishing TETFUND to partner with all critical stakeholders in the planning and implementation of policy decisions.
He described TETFUND as a blessing to tertiary institutions which he averred will deliver its mandate better if students,
ASUU, and other critical stakeholders are made to be part of the policy markers.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of FUL, Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi, described the infrastructure revolution in the institution as divine, pointing out that the institution has learnt to look and think outside the box.
Recalled that FUL printing press was conceived by the Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi’s administration under a BOT arrangement with Greyhound Digital Printing Press, with Mr. Tunde Adebayo Chairman/CEO of Greyhound Digital Printing Press .
