The Executive Director, Conscience for Human rights and Conflicts Resolutions , Comrade Idris Abdul Miliki, has taken Elder statesman, Afe Babalola SAN to the cleaners over his comment for the establishment of interim Government to fashion out a new constitution that will usher in new government.
Miliki who described the statement credited to the legal icon as worrisome, surprise and condemnable under the pretext of freedom of opinion and speach.
The speach called for and interim government after the expiration of the current Administration.
He said Elections have been fixed for next year February 11, for the office of the president and all National Assembly and March 25, for the office of governor and state House of Assemblies where applicable according to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
“The institution statutory put in place by law and the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. Rather than all Nigerians, particularly senior citizens to come out with meaningful suggestions and workable strategy that can secure our country towards peaceful conduct of elections, he is engaged in provocative pronouncement , that would not do the nation any good.
” Which can lead to constitutional crisis of monumental proportions. If we may ask where is the provisions for an interim administration in the 1999 constitution as amended” He queried.
