The Nigerian Medical Association NMA, kogi state chapter has appealed to Gov. Yahaya Bello , Chairman, Omala LGC , Hon. Ibrahim Aboh, the State Security Adviser, Jerry Omodara, state Command of Nigeria Police to provide needed arms and logistics to the Bagana Community volunteers Vigilante, to enable them maintain peace and security in the troubled areas.
The Security of Doctors Committee of the NMA made the appeal in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Dr. Omakoji Simeon Oyigwu and the secretary, Dr. Chimezie Udebuani and made available to Journalists on Wednesday in Lokoja.
The starement wishes to request the kind approval of Gov. Bello , for the appropriate arming of the recently trained forty five volunteers vigilante to help them deliver their mandate of securing crisis ridden Bagana and its environs in Omala Local Government Area of kogi.
The statement added that the Body is interested in the security of Bagana , which is on the bank of River Benue with boundaries to Nasarawa and Benue states, because of the possibility of bandits and other criminal elements straying into the state through the town..
The NMA equally solicits support for the establishment of a Vigilante Camp at Adinjere in Kpareke ward of kogi / Kotonkarfe LGA which will assist in the fight against crime and criminality in the area
” The Arming of relevant weapons and logistics to Bagana volunteers Vigilante and establishment of Vigilante Camp in Adinjere will significantly help to smoke out infiltrated bandits , terrorists , kidnappers and other hoodlums disturbing the peace of these communities.
While extending her great appreciation to the executive Governor of kogi , Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Omala Local Government Council, state command of NPF, State Security Adviser, DSS , Civil Defence Corps for their support to Kogi East Neighborhood Watch KENW , said, the private security outfit has sustained the fight against the criminals which has restored hope and relative peace to the Zone and by extension the state.
