Kogi State Police Command says a lady has been confirmed dead while few others sustained various degree of injuries when Gas exploded in Kabba in the western zone of kogi state.
The sad incident which occurred on Wednesday at a popular Labi beer parlour joint, Lewu Junction Kabba, headquarters of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, created panic in the Communities as people scamper to safety in different directions.
The police in a statement made available to Journalists in Lokoja on Thursday and signed by the Spokesman, SP William Aya, said the situation has been brought under control by the men of the Mobile Police Force, QRU, Regular Police and Military personnel who were drafted by the Commissioner of Police ,CP Edward Egbuka, on receipt of the distress call.
Aya said during the process, one Aisha who was injured by the explosion and evacuated to the hospital with others later died. while receiving treatment.
The Commissioner of Police, had directed Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation to commence investigation into the incident along with the personnel of the Explosives Ordinance Department (EOD) to unravel the cause of the explosion.
The statement added that the Commissioner of Police urged members of the public to go about their lawful businesses while reiterating the Command’s level of commitment in synergy with other security agencies in ensuring safety of lives and property.
