Niger NUT submits Teachers’ Census Report to Bello.

The Technical committee on teachers head count, headed by comrade labaran Garba set by the Governor of Niger state has submitted it report to the Governor.
The committee was set up by the Governor of Niger state to find a lasting solution on how to repositioned the state educational sector on how to better the plight of teachers been the worst paid civil servants in the state.
The state Governor during the inauguration of the technical committee sometimes last year tasks them to come up with a reliable statistical information of teachers with professional teaching qualification  and those without teaching qualification.
According to the report the Union and the seven man committee engaged the service of the NUT Branch executive on the use of enumerators to collate teacher’s data through the use of effective data collection instruments.
The chairman of the technical committee, comrade Labaran Garba said that after the completion of data collection, the list was made available to all schools for teachers to verify their information and those that have claims and objections were giving the opportunity to forward their claims.
Comrade Labaran Garba gave the findings on zonal basis as follows, number of schools, zone A 182,zone B 193 and zone C 123,number of Teachers, zone A 1,820,zone B 3,953 and zone C 958,Teachers qualified,zone A 1,395,zone B 3,555,zone C 958,Teachers unqualified, zone A 426,zone B 398 and zone C 138,and the percentage of Teachers unqualified on zonal basis are as follows, zone A 44%,zone B 41% and zone C 15%.
Comrade Labaran Garba stated that the report will go a long way to guide the state and the local government in policy formulation on the Teachers promotion, recruitment, retraining and to also acquaint  the government with the number of Teachers and schools in the state.
