The Nigeria Bar Association NBA, Minna branch has set up a five man committee to appraise the decision of the State House of Assembly and come out with the Legal position of the Bar on the removal of the Chairman of State Independent electoral Commission NSIEC.
The decision of the NBA-MINNA Branch, came during their monthly General meeting today in Minna.
The issue of the conduct of local Government election was extensively discussed on the matter arising from State of the Nation by the Congress.
The Congress noted that the schedule local government election is the right thing to do because the law doesn’t recognize caretaker position in place of a democratically elected Chairman for local government Council as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
They however noted in the meeting that since the matter of the conduct of the election is subjudice (pending before court), further discussion on the matter be stayed on the issue.
The five man committee has seventy two hours (72 hours)to submit their report.
