Former Chairman of Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Ali Atabor has been presented with the Grand Commander of the Igala Police Officers Welfare Association, IPOWA Merit Award.
The award was presented at the thirtieth anniversary and award ceremony of the Association in Lokoja.
Chairman of the Association, ASP Odiji Emmanuel said the award was in recognition of Honourable Ali Atabor’s contribution to the growth of the body and humanity in general.
ASP Odiji commended the veteran journalist for setting high standards in effective service delivery, calling on other well meaning persons to emulate him.
Responding after receiving the Award, Hon Ali Atabor stated that the award would spur him to do more for societal growth and development, saying such services would also be rewarded by God.
Comrade Ali Atabor who is presently a Governing Council Member, Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba and represented by his wife, Hajia Asibi Atabor commended IPOWA for their sense of unity, stressing that only unity and love could move the body forward.
He expressed appreciation to the Association for recognizing his modest contributions to the advancement of the body.
Alhaji Ali also promised to sustain his support to the Association and urged members to see themselves as one.
Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Abubakar Nasiru who was also honoured with an award of humanitarian services, praised the body for its foresight and appealed to members to keep the vision alive.
