Members of the peoples Democratic Party PDP have been charged to work assiduously to win the forthcoming general elections.
A former governor of kogi state and Secretary of Coalition of Northern Christians Against Same Faith Presidency, Elder Simon Achuba gave the charge Yesterday when he hosted Executive Members of Coalition of former elected and appointed political office holders of Nigeria ,Ex- ALGON , Kogi East chapter in his country home Idah, kogi state.
The former Deputy who started his political career as Vice Chairman of Ibaji Local Government Council and Deputy Speaker, kogi state House of Assembly, noted that the precarious Social Economic situation facing the nation foisted by the ruling APC, the call to reclaim power by the PDP has become necessary to rescue the people.
Achuba who described the Association as a noble cause said , if all the members should take the group seriously, it has the potential to produce great men and women for the country.
He said , with the huge population of politicians who have tested politics at the grassroots, sky will be the starting point, hence, enjoined all members to actively participate in its activities.
The Elder statesman, said , he was glad to be part of the Association, and advise members not to limit their potential based on the current happening, but to strive hard to return their party back to power.
He urge them to continue to work for the interest of PDP until victory is achieved at the polls, saying the party is the only party that has existed since the return of Democracy in 1999 till date, hence knows the pains of the people.
According to him” You must continue to work, no matter the discouragement, keep working to the point that the oppositions will give up.
” We must, if we are ready to win the election, change our strategy from “we dont mind them to “let people support us” as INEC has assured that every vote will count. It is better to mind everybody.” He advised.
Achuba who warned members to be mindful of those so called leaders whose only preoccupation with the people is to come home and buy all sorts of alcohol for the people, admonishing them to be ready to work with those with genuine love for the country.
He challenged them to always participate actively in all activities in their environment, stressing that it is the passion one has for the welfare and growth and being a source of joy to the people that makes one a leader.
While praying for God to choose good leaders for the country, called for concerted efforts to return PDP to power , in order to bring fresh air for the people.
Earlier, the Coordinator, National National Coalition Ex. Ex ALGON, Hon. Collins Adama commended the former Deputy Governor for his courage to return from APC to PDP and his commitment to secularity of Nigeria as he has to join the Coalition Northern Christian against same faith presidency , the feat that has made him a national figure with passion to rescue and reset the country.
Adama disclosed that the Association has members across the 239 wards and in all the LGAs of Kogi state making it the most formidable political association in Kogi state.
He said the members were in his country home to welcome him from the National assignment which he has made the Igala Kingdom and kogi state proud , adding that his return to PDP has reposition the party to win at all levels come 2023 general elections.
Recall that Elder Simon Achuba was a deputy governor under the APC but has to defect to PDP at the wake of agitation of northern Christians against same faith ticket adopted by the APC, even as Ex- ALGON is populated by elected and appointed LGC officials from 1999-2016.
