* Pays courtesy call on Ata’Igala
Against the backdrop of vital roles of traditional institutions in the fight against crimes and criminality, the new Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kogi state Command, Ahmad Ahmad Gandi has paid courtesy call on the Atah Igala, and President Kogi state Traditional Council, HRM Matthew Oguche Opaluwa to seek working collaboration to curb crimes and criminality in the state.
The Commandant who visited the monarch in his palace at Idah, headquarters of Idah Local Government Area, on Monday urged the monarch to use his vantage position to join hands with security agencies and election management bodies to ensure hitch free general elections.
In a press release made available to journalists by the Command Public Relations officer Alex Agiri on Monday, disclosed the mandate of the Corps to include; the protection of Critical national assets, Registration of PGC, Disaster Management, Solid minerals and agro Rangers, Safe School initiative.
The statement added that the Corps have been committed to her mandates, saying the visit was to strengthen the cooperation and collaboration.
Ahmad Ahmad assured the monarch that with regular trainings by his officers and men on civil relationship and as a body closest to the grassroots, he promise to deploy the experience to ensure a hitch free polls.
While soliciting for the monarch to educate their subjects on the need to live above board from crime and criminality, appealled to the people to remain vanguard for peace and security and to report to the security agencies those whose acts are inimical to peace and security.
He commended the Royal Father for his sustained assistance to the corps which has enabled his officers to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.
While stressing the role he has been playing as the president of the traditional institution in the state, said his reign has impacted positively on the security situation across the state.
Responding , the Royal Father, HRM Matthew Oguche Opaluwa, commended the Commandant General,Dr.Ahmed Abubakar Audi for energising the corps placing her on enviable position in the security corridor in the country.
He enjoined the Commandant and his officers and men not to relax on their oars but to continue with the good work of fighting all forms of crimes .
He assured the Commandant of utmost cooperation of his palace and the people stressing that the Igala people and indeed the entire people of the state are peace loving and should be protected before, during and after the election
He called on the command to investigate all the mining sites across the state to see that they comply with the lay down procedures and not to hesitate to bring to book those without signature and seal of the authorities.
HRM Oguche , appluaded the corps for their gallantry and professionalism in the discharge of their assignments , while soliciting the high command of the corps to ensure that needed tools are available to making the officers to perform their duties efficiently.
While reviewing the activities of the command with the Area Commander , Divisional officers, officers and and men of Idah Area command warned them to shun unprofessional activities while promising to reward hardwork.
