The chances of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic party PDP in the November 11 2023 gubernatorial election, Dino Melaye, received a boost on Tuesday as mammoth crowds of supporters, defied the scorching sun for hours to welcome him into the palatial palace of Ata’Igala in Idah, headquarters of Kogi East.
This is Just as the Kogi East branch of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN and her counterparts, Islamic bodies stood still to receive him at Anyigba, the emerging Socio-economic headquarters of Igala kingdom.
The supporters who were mostly, Youths, Okada riders, motor transport operators, Market women , elders and party leaders converge on GRA end of Ajegwu road , who usher him prosperously with barrage of sirens and horns with the artistic display of dances and songs into the Ata’s palace.
The security details, had hectic time in controlling the crowds, as some were seeing their guest for the first time, though his name has been a households.
Inside Palace”s confluence room, the shout of Dino the Messiah, could not be controlled, as every move to speak , received thunderous ovation, jeers from the people.
Dino who was elated by the demonstration of love for him vowed not to disappoint the state if elected into office as he assured of working hard to repose the confident the people placed on him.
He assured that with over 58 mineral resources embedded inside the Kogi soil, the state has no reason to be poor as he will in his hundred days in office announce Kogi as a members of richest states in the country.
According to him ” Kogi state is too rich to be poor. what we are getting from the present Administration is a fall out of ineptitude and lack of understanding of modern principles of governance. I have stopped blaming Governor Bello for gross incompetence and state of Kogi. It is a popular saying that you can’t give what you don’t have. The Governor is performing within his capabilities.
” We have 58 mineral resources in our dear state and unfortunately only limestone is being tapped. Experts have carried out a study on gymsum , Uranium which are abundant in the state and assumed to be of high money spinners. They are lying fallow. We have Gold ,Coal, Crude oil waiting for exploration.
” Tourism is another area that the state has potential for greatness. We can promote various cultural festivals that abound across the state. We will put tourism in the international arena that will attract direct foreign investment into the state.
” We will invest heavily in education, as primary and secondary schools would receive our attention. We will establish three nursery schools in each zone of the state. Our tertiary institutions would be of international standards that will attract international students who will pay tuition in dollars.
We have world renowned professors across the globe. I’m aware that the first professors of Robotic Engineering and Artificial intelligence are from Kogi . We will attract them home to run the courses in our state Universities. These are good sources of revenue for the state rather than taxing the poor.
” Today idea is what rule the world . Look at Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore, Rwanda, were being transformed from poor to rich nations through focus leadership.” He assured.
Meanwhile, at the CEFN church headquarters at Anyigba where members of CAN drawn from various denominations across Kogi East congregate, he said, his administration will focus on compassion, Justice, Fairness, stating that with the fear of God, stealing from public funds would be a thing of the past.
He said , he has sworn to rather obey the word of God in order to be raptured rather than to be unraptured to please men.
He pledge to instil righteousness, fairness, equity; compassion and empathy which are the motives to vie for the office governor of the state
He said, as far as the Almighty God is the one that directs the affairs of men, no amount of wickedness perpetuated by some persons in government can succeed against him.
He warned those using instruments of office to oppress the masses to know that the God of Israel who divided the red sea for his children to cross unhurt while drowning the enemies in the same red sea is very much at work today.
He thanked the clergies who came from far and new to welcome him, said their investment on him will not be forgotten.
In a prayer mood , the Senior Pastor of CEFN and CAN chairman, Kogi East, Reverend Isaac Ademu disclosed that Senator Dino Melaye is the first Christian to run on the major political parties in the state to have so recognised CAN that has the believe that their prayers could help him in winning the election
He said God of Israel has no abandoned projects, hence, he that has started will see him through with resounding success.
Also, the Muslim clerics promised to give him their maximum support for his Governorship assignment while praying for wisdom , guidance strength and protection as he pilot his campaign.
