Kogi Guber: United Political Parties Congratulate Ododo, commends Inec for free , fair, credible election.
The United Progressive Political Parties, UPPP, have congratulated the Governor -Elect, and candidate of All Progressive Party APC , Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on his victory at the Saturday governorship election in kogi state.
This is just as the group commended the Independent National Electoral commission (Inec)for conducting an election adjudged to be the fairest ,freest and credible in the history of elections in the state.
The UPPP, and umbrella body for all the progressive political parties in the state, made the commendation in a press conference held on Monday in Lokoja.
The Chairman of the group , Alhaji Idirisu Bala noted that the Saturday poll has indicated that the people of kogi state are united in the quest for the growth and development of the state , admitting that the people, irrespective of tribes and creeds stood behind the governor elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo, in a contest that eliminated violence across the state.
Alhaji Bala who commended Inec for the meticulous handling of the election which, he said is by every standard substantially complied with the guidelines and electoral laws.
He called on the political parties and their candidates to accept the outcome in good faith as in every contest , a winner must emerge, urge them to join hands with the APC to build the state of that everyone would be proud of.
According to him ” this election is substantially in compliance with the electoral laws, and the electoral umpire has followed the electoral guidelines as amended, and it is unequivocally devoid of sentiments, We are confident that INEC announced the result after due diligence, collation of results from all local government areas and we made bold to say that this election is free, fair and credible and therefore acceptable to us.
“Our appeal to all the political parties especially the APC is to be magnanimous in Victory by demonstrating the policy of all inclusive governance as exemplified by our distinguished president His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
” In the spirit of sportsmanship, we urge the governor elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo of APC to extend a hand of fellowship to all the political parties that struggled through the process of becoming the Governor of our dear state to present their agenda for the development of Kogi State, since the overriding principle is to bring a change for better.
“We shall not forget in a hurry to commend His Excellency Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello for his dexterity, and doggedness for providing leadership in all ramifications, posterity will not forget you.
“We salute all our security agencies standing tall in your assignment for neutrality in the monitoring of this election devoid of intimidation, conspiracy with any arm of the ruling power to pervade injustice, without you democracy can not thrive, Congratulations for this show of professionalism.
While appealing to stakeholders to show restraints in their utterances and conduct in order to engender peace as without peace there wouldn’t be functional growth and development.
The group further salute the electorate for their patriotism to exercise their Franchise and all other organisations that ensured the peaceful election.
