Rights Organisation canvasses Better political Deal for Nigerian Youths in Kogi

*Seeks Removal of constitutional impediments to young persons’ political Participation*
* Unveils Program logo.
A Human Rights Organisation, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution CHRCR has canvassed for the elimination of constitutional impediment to full participation of young persons in the political development of Nigeria.
This is just as he challenged the youths to leverage on the “not too young to run” act to press further for total removal of barriers of age limit prescribed for certain political positions.
The Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution CHRCR Comrade Abdul Idris Miliki gave the charge at a  One day Round Table for Youth Focus Organisations and Media on Inspiring Youth for Leadership, held in Lokoja on Friday.
The executive director, noted that the future of the country rest squarely on the quality of youth who are expected to be worthy in character and learning ,hence, should be supported by the older generation to enable them to take informed political decisions.
He noted that, Nigeria,  based on the available statistics revealed that over 60% of the population belong to the youth , hence, actions and inactions of the present leadership will have negative effect on the political and economic lives of the young persons.
He disclosed that most Nation’s that have emerged out of their challenges were nations that gave priority to their Youths in all ramifications, called on the kogi state government to pay functional attention to the growth of Youth Development Commission .
He called on relevant Agencies and Institutions to synergize , collaborate and partner with the Youth Development Commission to ensure the youths are effectively mentored to confront challenges of leadership, while warning them to deemphasize mundanity in life, rather, to be focused and commited to national development.
The Executive Director, who is the main resource person at the round table promised to assist the youth Development Commission through necessary commitment to deepen and spread consciousness of youth participation in governance and leadership
While saying that the main objective of the Inspiring Youth for Leadership among other things is to build capacity to promote good governance and to disseminate youth focused and media engagement.
He added that it is the main concern of the Program to promote consciousness of the young persons to good governance and leadership in kogi state.
While commending  Governor Yahaya Bello for the establishment of Youth Development Commission and engaging them in political appointment, decried his inability to put machinery in place for the democratic conduct of local Government Council elections, in December, 2023.
In a remark, the chairman of Youth Development Commission,Lawal Ozomata James , who was represented by Nazif Yusuf , commended the organiser for his continued support and welcome all actions and suggestions that will advance the cause of youths in the state, even as he unveiled the Program logo.
