Leadership vacuum threatens LG Councils’ workers in kogi.
* Calls for urgent composition of Councils administrators.
* Decried  Vigilante, Gunmen  Rampage in Egume.
The local Government Councils in the 21 LGAs of kogi state were dissolved on the expiration of their tenures on the 14th December, 2023. Since, the dissolution, no caretakers or sole administrators were appointed to oversee the Councils. This leadership vacuum has negatively affected the payment of  salary and  productivity of workers. insecurity in some council areas involving some vigilante personel  in Egume, Dekina LGA.has become worrisome.
Emmanuel Ibrahim, a public analysis writes from kogi
It is a popular statement that Government has no place for vacuum but reverse is becoming the case in Kogi State where the Councils of the 21 LGAs were dissolved by  Governor Yahaya Bello on the expiration of the tenures on 14th December, 2023 and since then , there was mo appointment of administrators to fill the vacuum.
As it stands now, non of the 21 LGAs has some one  the people can run to as their political leader in charge of their welfare and security.
It is trite to  argue that the police and other security outfits of government are on ground to take care of the security of the citizenry, but we are all citizens of this country and we know how we  behave here.
“Can an ordinary citizens call the police to order? Worse still, when , it is, the  personel  of same security outfits of the state government are the one hunting the people, killing and maiming them, with out anyone to amplify the voice of the communities.
At least elections are over and we implore the  governor, as a matter urgency to show concern for the welfare of the people.
“Just three days ago, a personel of a vigilante group allegedly gunned  down three citizens of Egume in Dekina LGA of Kogi State for yet to be explained reasons, yet the people of the community and the general public have not heard anything from the government, whether from the state or from the security formation as if nothing has happened.
However,It is not proper for  a government that pride itself to have done creditably well in the area of taming insecurity above  all other state governors in the country could be  uncommitted to the security of the people at the tail end of his administration.
We call on the Governor to without delay compose councils , irrespective of the nomenclatures to man the Local Government Areas. By these, the confidence of the people on the government would be restored.
Meanwhile, i wish to draw the attention of the governor that his prompt composition of the councils will stem insecurity across the state and guarantee  the welfare and well-being of the works at the council, even at this period of Yuletide.
