Barely 2 weeks that two buses belonging to GIG and ABC transport companies were attacked and fourteen passengers whisked into the bush, in the eastern axis of kogi state ,some passengers in an 18 seater GUO bus were kidnapped in the western part of the state over weekend in the state.
The incident occured around 2pm about 30 minutes drive from Kabba headquarters of Kabba Bunu LGA in the state, leaving gory tales of the brutal murder of the driver and a toddler left in the bus before carrying away their human cargo into the thick forest
According to an eye witness who did not want his name in print , said , the abduction happened exactly 2pm on Thursday
According to him, he was on his way back from an outing in Akoko Edo, in Ondo state in company of police escorts when they met the bus parked off the road riddled with bullets with the driver lying dead on the seat, with a minor , whose mother would have been part of those abducted .
He lamented at the frequency of abduction targeted at buses from the Eastern parts criss crossing the state to their destinations, saying , this is a bad commentary for the security architecture of the state.
He said, some police men, military personnel and other security agents were seen at the scene , but, he was not sure of the rescue.
He called on the present administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to improve on the security of lives and property of residents and travellers as kogi was in the past adjudged as safest place in the country.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the kogi command of Nigeria Police Force, SP William Aya said, the kidnapping took place outside the border of kogi state.
