— *Describes Him as Hero of Present Administration*
The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman has been described as a hero for his frontal approach and doggedness in repositioning the institution to the delight of all.
The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Abdulsalami Ozigi Deedat made the statement during his courtesy visit to the Polytechnic on Tuesday 16th April, 2024.
Barrister Ozigi expressed delight with the rapid development the Polytechnic has experienced under the administration of Dr. Usman and emphasised that his effort in eradicating cultism and social unrest at the Polytechnic has not only assisted the institution to improve academically, but has helped Kogi State Government by bending the curve of insecurity.
“Cultists and touts that are not tamed while in higher institutions could grow to become armed robbers and assassins in the larger society”, he stressed, and praised Dr Usman for taming them in the Polytechnic.
The Honourable Commissioner also thanked the Rector for allowing himself to be used as a vessel to improve the standard of education in Kogi State and particularly, Kogi State Polytechnic which he said the present administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is proud of.
āI want to thank God for you that you allowed yourself to be used as a vessel in building the state positively.
āI believe you still have more good things in you to offer the Polytechnic and the State and I pray that God Almighty would allow you give more of it,ā he concluded.
Earlier, the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman expressed delight for the visit and appreciated Barrister Ozigi for his continued support to the growth and development of the Polytechnic.
He particularly recalled his donation of 10 laptop computers which he said have become beneficial to teaching and administration in the institution.
The Rector used the gathering to brief the Honourable Commissioner of the successes the Polytechnic has achieved under his watch, including improvement in academic excellence, infrastructural development, provision of adequate security and quality assurance, amongst others.
Whilst reassuring Barrister Ozigi of the unending commitment of the Polytechnic’s management to heighten the standard of the institution, Dr. Usman appealed to him for his continued support, encouragement and motivation to combat the unceasing land encroachment at the Itakpe Campus of the Polytechnic.
Highlights of the visit were presentation of the Polytechnic’s artefacts among other souvenirs to the Honourable Commissioner by the Rector.
Present at the visit were Principal Officers and some management members of the Polytechnic.
