Divine Oguche has emerged the overall best of the 30 graduating students of the 2024 set of the Faith Academy, Lokoja, kogi state.
This is as he won the best student in all the Science subjects and scored 330 marks in the just released Jamb results, the highest by the school.
This was revealed over the weekend during the Fortune 2024, 9th graduation, prize and Speech day of Faith Academy held in the school auditorium in lokoja.
Divine Oguche, who is fondly called Champion for his outstanding performances in Mathematics and science subjects was a cynozures of all eyes at the event as he rarely got back to his seat before he will be called back to the podium for another award in the science subjects.
Oguche, had won many National mathematics competitions, notably, Majesty International Academy Lokoja, sponsored Nigeria Mathematics Center Abuja, mathematics competition for Schools in Kogi state.
Speaking to our Correspondent, the young mathematics’ genius said , he got the inspiration and instincts in solving mathematics from the divine hands of Almighty God .
He noted that he does nothing extra ordinary to achieve the feat as he only approached his studies with determination and commitment to success.
He added that his lifelong dream is to study Mechantronic Engineering which will afford him latitude to innovate and to solve complex humans and societal challenges.
According to the young mathematics collosus , he had promised his mother that he will haul in academic medals as a compensation to her past expectations when he will graduate from secondary school.
stressing that, the feat he has achieved now was a testament to that promise.
He gave all the glory and adulation to God , whom , he acknowledged, as the giver of knowledge even as he commended the Management, staff , teachers and students who have created enabling environment for the enviable results that the school has recorded both in internal and external examinations.
In a remark, his mother, Engineer Joan Oguche disclosed that from cradle, her son has been a lover of books as he often ask for books and nothing else.
She commended Living faith church worldwide for the vision in establishing an institution devoted to raising future giants both in character and learning.
She explained that due to her love and passion for engineering, she instituted cash award for best graduating students in subjects combination for the study of engineering in tertiary institutions.
In a graduation lecture titled” Continuous Learning key to Success” and delivered by Professor Dauda Tanko, noted that, learning is a continuous lifelong endeavour as one stops learning, he or she start dying.
Drawing his exposition from the books of Proverbs 9:9 , 1:32 and 2:10 , said continuous learning is not debatable as if one fails to learn functionally would be exposed to dysfunction learning which breeds societal dislocation and can lead to destruction of dreams.
The Erudite scholar, warned students against indulgence in unwholesome form of learning which, he said , could inculcate behaviours that are tantamount to good morals and norms.
According to him, indoctrination, a form of learning taught by inappropriate authorities would lead to acceptance of group norms which are detrimental and destructive to ones dreams and aspirations.
” There are various places of learning, some may make one a victim. Bokoharam and Yahoo are evil places of learnings and are potential for inculcating bad behaviour in their victims. As you pass out today, you are expected to enter into the University and of course do your Phd. We are in a changing and dynamic world ,. So you are expected to keep updating and adapt to new skills to make you relevant at all times. If you lag behind time , you have yourself to blame as what you know today is not good enough for tomorrow.” He advised.
While calling on the graduands to maximise the opportunity that the school has afforded them to continuously learn relevant knowledge to make them expert in their chosen field of endeavours and to avoid stagnation, warned against new normal by cutting corners to succeed which would bring troubles and repercussions.
In his exhortation, the principal of the college, Mr. Olalekan Alege urged graduating students to explore the larger world and to aim at constantly be a star.
He said, the aim of the school to adopt regimented and discipline lifestyles is to bring out the stars in the students adding that Faith Academy in its few years of existence has revolutionalise secondary education in kogi state.
He said the best time to prepare for the glorious and prosperous and to design and configure their tomorrow is to anchor their lives on the potency of the word of God.
He disclosed that 30 Students were presented for the graduation even as Miss Amarachi Obinna won the overall best graduating students in the Arts subjects.
Also, the Chairman of Faith Academy Governing Council, Pastor Ben Andrew admonise them to have faith in God at all times and never to debase themselves by indulging in acts inimical to their academic progression.
While commending the presiding Bishop, Dr. David Oyedepo for establishing the school in the state, saluted parents for their sacrifices in meeting the obligations of their children and wards while in the school.
He disclosed that the excellence performances of the 2023 set earned four of them full Scholarships to study degree programs at Base and Nile universities Abuja and charged the students to imbibe the academic integrity of the school
Meanwhile, in his valedictory speech, the out gone head boy, Komolafe Emmanuel applauded other perfects and students for their cooperation which made his tenure successful.
He thanked the school management and teachers for the knowledge they have impacted on them and promise that the ex students would continue to be the ambassadors of the school through out their journey of life.
Highlights of the event was the presentation of plagues and cash award instituted by individuals and corporate organisations to the best students in various subjects from JSS1 to SS2;and overall best students in all the classes .
