Hon Ihiabe Umar Yahaya Picks SDP party’s Flag , Calls for Massive Support.
As the people of Kogi state geared towards going to the polls to cast their votes to who will that the third tied of government -local government councils , the state secretariat of the Social Democratic party -SDP- has officially presented its flag to hon. Ihiabe Umar Yahaya to fly Omala local government area ticket in the upcoming election.
Recall that, following the Supreme court verdict granting autonomous to the 774 local government areas in the federation which invariably brought an abruptly end the influence of State governors on councils activities.
In Kogi state, the state independent election commission ‘SIEC’ had announced October 19,2024 to conduct election into the twenty one council areas of the state which has provided political parties clear view to commence preparation.
Hon. Ihiabe Umar Yahaya, who received the party’s flag from state chairman of the party, Peter Oricha in Lokoja at a crowd pulling occasion on Saturday in Lokoja, kogi state capital, hinted that he is the race for the convert council position to address the several challenges that have beleaguered Omala local government area.
The Society Democratic party Chairmanship hopeful, lampooned the leadership of the current Council for their abysmal failure to tackle the security situation of the area that three of her wards were ambushed by bandits over the last nine years devoid of possible solution.
According to Ihiabe Umar, if given the mandate through the ballot box, he has a well thought out and integrated master plans to securing lives and property of the already suffocated and pained citizens of the communities.
He acknowledged Bagaji Odo, Bagana, and Okpatala wards had taken over by bandits which have brought untold economic retardation on the lives, while their hard property are carted away by the hoodlooms without any measure to reclaim the communities from their hand by the existing government.
He promised to deployed his vast experience and expertise and working in tandem with core stakeholders and security architectures to liberate the suffered people from their present predicaments.
Hon Ihiabe Umar Yahaya, who expressed implicit confidence that the state independent election commission SIEC will be fair, credible and transparent to conduct an acceptable election, explained that having served as an elected counselor for Abejukolo ward one between 2014-2015, he has acquired adequate grassroots political experience to fasttrack transformational leadership and put the area on the map of sustainable growth and development.
The Social Democratic party Chairmanship candidate urged Omalites to embrace his candidature asserting that the lost glory of the area would be restored back to were it use to be and admonished them to shunned politics of violence and ensure that their votes counts.
